FAQ

What is the purpose of Virtual Care?

We are doing this to improve patient care and to provide flexibility in your schedule. This is to help us identify concerns that need to be addressed sooner and adjust your treatment as needed. With weekly photos, we can also increase compliance for our patients.

This sounds like a lot of trouble. What if I don't have time?

Yes, we know this is an extra step in your weekly routine, but the Invisalign app is designed to be user friendly and convenient. Taking an extra two minutes a week can save you from a thirty minute appointment more often, not including your travel time.

Will this shorten my treatment time?

Ideally! Weekly photo check ups help patients stay on track, thus treatment should run more smoothly. We are also able to make changes earlier if we see an issue with an aligner not tracking properly.

How often do I take pictures?

Pictures are taken once a week on the day you are switching your aligners. Please keep your last aligner after switching out in case of lost aligners.

What happens if I lose my trays or retractors?

Upon delivery, all trays become the patient’s responsibility as with aligner wear. Should you lose your trays, please contact our office immediately for us to order a replacement. Loss of two boxes or more is $30/arch ($60 per set), up to $1900. Teens can order up to six replacement aligners at no charge with our Invisalign Teen Program. Cheek retractors are $10 each.

How do I clean my retractors?

Like Invisalign trays, cheek retractors can be cleaned with regular soap and water. Please do not use the dishwasher or boiling water.

How often do I come in for appointments?

With Virtual Care, patients will be coming in every 12-20 weeks. This is based on the doctor’s recommendation or work that needs to be done in between trays (i.e IPRs, Attachments, Elastics).

Why do I have to come in if you’re monitoring it online?

While online monitoring helps us track your progress, physical doctor visits are still required to make sure treatment is still progressing well. We will also need patients to come in for refinement scans as they run out of trays to modulate new trays.

Why is the cost the same if everything is done at home?

Invisalign is considered an upgraded option compared to braces due to its flexibility and advanced technology. Patients are still being monitored by an Orthodontist for treatment. Virtual Care allows us to monitor your progress weekly to maintain a close eye on treatment.

Will Virtual Care cost me extra?

No, this is a complimentary benefit of seeing your Invisalign treatment with our office.
